Moldova will host the 12th meeting of the heads of state and government of the countries party to the South East European Cooperation process (SEECP) on 5 June 2009. <\/p>\n

Acting President Vladimir Voronin will chair the summit, which will end the string of events conducted by Moldova during its chairmanship of this regional organization. <\/p>\n

The head of the regional cooperation directorate of the Foreign and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE), Dumitru Tira, on Wednesday told journalists that those 11 countries participating in the SEECP should be represented, according to preliminary information, by five heads of state, five prime ministers and one deputy prime minister.<\/p>\n

Bulgarian President Georgi Pirvanov, etc. is among the high-rank officials who will come to Chisinau. Tira said that the officials are expected to tackle the situation in the region, as well as the progress made by the South East European countries in the EU integration process. <\/p>\n

The participants in the event will approve a report on Moldova’s chairmanship held during 2008-2009. One of the most relevant documents to be approved at the meeting is a joint declaration of the SEECP heads of state and government. The declaration will comprise solutions and requirements to the international community and the EU, in order to support the region to overcome the present economic crisis. Tira did not exclude that the participants in the meeting are likely to discuss the bilateral relations between certain SEECP member states, including those between Moldova and Romania. Tira said that, for the time being, no bilateral meetings have been requested, either on behalf of Moldova or on behalf of Romania. Moldova became a SEECP member in 2006, and it took over the chairmanship from Bulgaria in 2008. Moldova will convey the SEECP chairmanship to Turkey on 5 June. Moldpres, 27 May 2009
