Basic documents for negotiations between the Moldovan authorities and the opposition that was how Vladimir Turcan called the Resolutions on Moldova, passed recently by the CoE and the European Parliament. <\/p>\n

Speaking over the Moldova-1 public television channel on Wednesday night, he said the Resolutions are ‘a test for Moldovan mature and young politicians, a test that must show how state-minded they are, and if they wish the Moldovan state to exist as such in the future’. <\/p>\n

He presumes the authorities and the opposition must jointly work out a plan of measures to overcome the current crisis, and must jointly put the plan into life. <\/p>\n

Touching on the opposition’s demand to release all protesters arrested during the 6-7 April events, he stated that the young people, who took part in the actions of protest in Chisinau, have already been set free. <\/p>\n

There are only several persons remaining in custody until now, but decisions about them may be taken only after the Prosecutor General and Minister of the Interior have presented their official reports. <\/p>\n

Vladimir Turcan presumes it is pointless to stir up debates about who benefits more from the above-mentioned Resolutions on Moldova, the ruling Communist Party or the opposition. <\/p>\n

Asked about possible new parliamentary elections, the First Deputy Speaker stated confidently that most voters do not wish a new election, ‘for they realize that in the current conditions this would be a way into an abyss’. <\/p>\n

Admitting the need for maintaining party discipline in the opposition ranks, Turcan fingered at the need to respect parliamentarians’ freedom, too. He believes every deputy has the right to, and must, take part in secret voting at a presidential election. <\/p>\n

‘Why don’t the opposition nominate their presidential candidate from among parliamentarians or Moldova’s distinguished personalities?’ he wondered, and remarked that the Moldovan Parliament has not in fact been working since December 2008, while the Government first worked in agitated conditions of an election campaign and now it has been only an acting body with a fairly limited authority. <\/p>\n
