The Moldovan Communist Party (MCP), governing in this republic since 2001, will continue its current course of country development, incumbent President of Moldova and MCP Chairman Vladimir Voronin stated to the press last night, shortly after the parliamentary voting was completed at 9pm on Sunday.<\/p>\n

He reaffirmed that an absolute priority in his party’s activity will be given to the improving of citizens’ living standards, and among other priorities will be Moldova’s European integration and settlement of the Transnistria conflict.<\/p>\n

“What’s the use of changing anything, if all is going on smoothly at the current chosen course””, the head of state questioned.<\/p>\n

Voronin said he does not see any point in forming a coalition with other parties.<\/p>\n

“Last 8 years, we have been managing the country governance excellently without any coalition. If we poll a number of ballots enough for forming a government, a coalition may be needed only for electing a new president”, said the outgoing head of state.<\/p>\n

He made it clear he is not going to enter into negotiations with any other party in the new Parliament. Voronin stressed each deputy elected to the legislative forum will have to think himself or herself over a new situation to take a corresponding decision.<\/p>\n

Vladimir Voronin is not ruling out that some oppositional MPs will conscientiously decide to vote together with the Communists “without waiting for somebody to start persuading them”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
