The Moldovan Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) uses in its electoral advertisements a piece of music from the cartoon "Madagascar", produced by the American company "Walt Disney", which belongs to the composer Hans Zimmer.<\/p>\n

Sources within the Association of Authors and Neighbouring Rights of Moldova (ASDAC) stated for BASA-press that all those who intend to use pieces of music by foreign composers in the advertisements can do this only by6 concluding a direct contract with the author or his special representative.<\/p>\n

The legislation in force outlines a punishment ranging from 500 leu to 500 thousand leu for breaking the authors and neighbouring rights.<\/p>\n

The PLDM leader Vladimir Filat mentioned for the Agency that the PLDM would express its position towards the piece of music which is used in the electoral advertisements and would comply with the claims related to it.<\/p>\n

Previously, the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM) has been sued by the Romanian football team Dinamo Bucharest, claiming 150 thousand of euros in damage using abusively the official song of the team „Caine pana la moarte” by the Youth Organization of the PDM. At PDM’s request the suit was postponed for 9 April.
