Residents of the Transnistrian region having the Republic of Moldova citizenship are invited to come to 10 polling stations to be opened in specified towns and villages on the right Dniester bank on April 5 2009, as per the Central Election Commission’s resolution published in the Monitorul Oficial governmental paper on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Several months ago, Chisinau was looking forward to organizing the voting on the eastern riverbank, and the CEC even allocated 7 million lei for the purpose. However, like in previous election years, negotiations between Chisinau and Tiraspol on this issue led to nothing, and maximum the CEC could do was to provide voting conditions on the western bank for those Transnistrians who would like to take part in electing the next Moldovan Parliament.<\/p>\n

The Commission has also decided that ballot-papers for Transnistrians for voting on the right bank shall be counted separately. Such guest voters’ names will be included into additional lists, and Transnistrians will be casting ballots into separate boxes. These ballots will be counted separately from the rest papers. Voting results will be included into a special form and will be delivered to the board of the respective electoral constituency the polling station belongs. The station staff is supposed also to draw up a separate protocol on the Transnistrians’ voting returns.<\/p>\n
