The Moldovan authorities do not say that the Convention on Small-Scale Border Traffic will be signed only after the signing of the Basic Treaty and the Border Treaty between the two states.<\/p>\n

The statement was made by the Romanian Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu in Chisinau on Thursday. “During discussions with Minister Stratan and President Voronin, I understood that they impose no conditions. I assure you that each of the states pursues its own interests and is not ready to place obstacles to signing a document or another because we have many joint projects. I think that the Moldovan authorities are disposed to avoid the elements that could hinder the implementation of these projects,” Diaconeascu said.<\/p>\n

Both Diaconescu and Startan made it clear that headway has been made with the Convention on Small-Scale Border Traffic, which enables the citizens living near the border between the two states to move freely, without visas.<\/p>\n

"Teams of negotiators are prepared to resume talks over this important issue and we are optimistic because the visit was made at the start of 2009 and we still have enough time to find solutions and reach consensus about this document,” Andrei Stratan said.<\/p>\n

The Moldovan Foreign Minister stressed that few hindrances are yet to be removed for the talks over the other draft treaties to produce results.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
