A representative of the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova on November 26 and warned about possible challenges that can harm the Moldovan-Romanian relations. <\/p>\n

The communiqué issued by the Ministry’s press service does not say what challenges they refer to and who could provoke them, but foreign policy experts think that the warning is somehow related to the dissatisfaction with the election campaign carried out in Moldova by Romanian candidates for MP seats, expressed by the Moldovan authorities recently. <\/p>\n

The communiqué says that the Moldovan authorities possess information “about possible challenges in the form of public statements hinting at the statehood, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova that will be made the next days with the aim of straining relations between Moldova and Romania.” <\/p>\n

The Moldovan Foreign Ministry also informs that the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Lazar Comanescu will be in Chisinau on a visit the next days. In this connection, it calls on the Romanian Embassy to be watchful and alert to the public statements that will be made by the Romanian officials and representatives of the Romanian minority in Moldova the next days. \"\"<\/p>\n

Contacted by REPORTER.MD, employees of the Foreign Ministry’s press service could not clarify the issue. The Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Filip Teodorescu, who held a press conference today, also could not offer any details about the abovementioned communiqué, while the Romanian Foreign Ministry has not yet made comments. <\/p>\n

Eugen Revenco, program director at the Foreign Policy Association, has told REPORTER.MD that the communiqué is probably connected with a recent communiqué by which the Moldovan Foreign Ministry expressed dissatisfaction with the election campaign carried out in Moldova by Romanian candidates for MPs seats.
