The official Chisinau says that the talks in the 5+2 format are delayed because Tiraspol lacks political will and is inflexible on the subject of resumption of the talks. <\/p>\n

The statement was made by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Stratan at a meeting with the Special Envoy of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Heikki Talvitie, the Foreign Ministry’s press service informs.

\nThe interlocutors discussed the cooperation between Moldova and the OSCE, the settlement of the Transdniestrian dispute and the preparations for the OSCE Ministerial Council that will take place in Helsinki between December 4-5, 2008. <\/p>\n

In this connection, the two officials stressed the necessity of resuming the talks in the 5+2 format so as to identify a political solution to the Transdniestrian dispute, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova. They underlined that the political, economic, social and security problems related to the Transdniestrian conflict should be addressed in package and that the Transdniestrian region should remain part of Moldova. <\/p>\n

It was also stressed that the coming OSCE Ministerial Summit will provide an appropriate framework for discussing the Transdniestrian dispute and it is important that the Ministerial Council adopt documents that would remove the political obstacles and help find a mutually acceptable solution to the conflict.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
