The Moldovan authorities reiterate their readiness to continue the direct contacts with the Tiraspol administration, including at the talks in the present format and through the confidence building working groups, so as to identify a viable solution to the Transdniestrian conflict. <\/p>\n

The statement was made by the Reintegration Ministry of Moldova. It also says that the Moldovan authorities are ready to resume the dialogue despite Tiraspol’s recent statement about the meeting of President Vladimir Voronin and the Transdniestrian leader Igor Smirnov that was to be held this week. <\/p>\n

“Unfortunately, Tiraspol delayed this process from the very beginning, invoking different excuses and taking a position that lacked constructivism in the negotiation process. All the possible options proposed by Chisinau were rejected and this shows that there is no will to find a solution by compromise,” the Reintegration Ministry says. <\/p>\n

The Ministry also says that the accusations about the possibility of representatives of the Tiraspol administration being arrested are groundless and absurd. <\/p>\n

Tiraspol accused Chisinau of not cooperating in organizing the meeting that was to take place on September 25. The Transdniestrian foreign minister, quoted by Olvia-Press news agency, said that the meeting was cancelled through the fault of the Moldovan side as it was against holding the meeting in Bender.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
