\"\"Ambassador Asif J. Chaudhry handed over his credentials as Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova to Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan on September 8, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration informs. <\/p>\n

Andrei Stratan welcomed the new U.S. Ambassador to Moldova and assured him that the Moldovan authorities will support him in his work in Moldova. <\/p>\n

The two officials discussed aspects of the bilateral relations, in particular cooperation in the settlement of the Transdniestrian conflict, Moldova’s participation in the MCC programs, promotion of democratic reforms and Moldova’s European aspirations. <\/p>\n

Asif J. Chaudhry stressed that the United States wants the bilateral relations with Moldova to develop continuously, expressing his readiness to contribute towards the implementation of different join initiatives. <\/p>\n

In another development, the American diplomat said the U.S. considers that the political solution to the Transdniestrian conflict must be sustainable and preserve Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. <\/p>\n

Ambassador Asif Chaudhry, a career member of the US Senior Foreign Service, served as Deputy Administrator of the Office of Global Analysis at the US Department of Agriculture. Prior, he served as Agricultural Minister Counselor at the United States Embassy in Cairo, and also served as Assistant to the General Sales Manager of the U.S. Foreign Agriculture Service. <\/p>\n
