The Moldovan authorities say that the decision to suspend contacts between the two banks of the Dniester is unfounded and express readiness to continue the dialogue with Tiraspol without preliminary conditions. <\/p>\n

Such a statement was made by the Minister for Reintegration Vasilii Sova on August 14. Sova had a number of meetings with representatives of the mediators and observers to the Transdniestria conflict settlement process – the OSCE Mission, Russia, Ukraine, the European Union and the United States. <\/p>\n

According to the press service of the Reintegration Ministry, the officials discussed aspects of the settlement process and the confidence building measures between Chisinau and Tiraspol. <\/p>\n

The interlocutors stressed the importance of continuing the dialogue and direct contacts as there are all the necessary preconditions. The Moldovan authorities reiterated their readiness to continue the direct contacts with Tiraspol, including within the existent format of the talks. <\/p>\n
