Representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) say that the state institutions do not adequately manage the crisis caused by floods in the water meadows of the Dniester and Prut. <\/p>\n

At a news conference on July 31, PLDM leader Vlad Filat said that the authorities did practically nothing since the floods started five days ago and the aid promised by them has not reached the flood victims. The dignitaries only pay short visits to the affected areas and the public mass media and the press controlled by the Communist power covers these events, Filat said. <\/p>\n

According to PLDM, the people are not informed about the danger of epidemics, while the settlements that had been under the water are not helped to remove the mud and pump the water from houses and annexes. \"\"<\/p>\n

The party also says that the governmental commission for emergencies reacted inadequately. It issued only incomplete communiques about the situation in the affected zones. The district divisions of the Department for Emergencies have not been provided with special equipment, water reserves and food for flood victims. <\/p>\n

PLDM calls upon the authorities to make public the plan of measures aimed at liquidating the consequences of floods, to evacuee the property from flooded settlements and to provide the population with pumping equipment. <\/p>\n

The party demands that Speaker Marian Lupu should immediately call an extraordinary session of the Parliament to hear the Government’s report on the situation in the affected areas and on the measures taken and to modify the Budget Law so as to allocate the financial resources needed to overcome the crisis.\/\/REPORTER.MD<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
