The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) has announced that the 10,731 signatures and public administrations’ decisions in favor of hastening the signing of the Convention on Small-Scale Border Traffic will be sent to the Government on July 17. <\/p>\n

PLDM leader Vlad Filat told a news conference on Thursday that the pro-Convention actions will be stepped up. Ample protests will be organized between July 21 and September 1 in all the settlements covered by the Convention. <\/p>\n

There will be held meetings with people, distributed more than 200,000 informative brochures and the collection of signatures will be continued. PLDM will also carry out informative activities in the towns of Cahul, Comrat, Taraclia, Nisporeni and Edinet. \"\"<\/p>\n

“The Basic Treaty with Romania focuses on the bilateral relations, while the Convention on Small Border Traffic has a community character and it is not right when the Government says that it will sign the Convention only after the Treaty is signed,” Filat said. <\/p>\n

Jurist Alexandru Tanase, members of PLDM, said that the Communist government avoids signing the Convention, using Soviet methods for isolating the citizens with the aim of easier manipulating them and obtaining better results in elections. On the other hand, Tanase said, such an attitude forms part of the anti-Romania policy pursued by the Government. <\/p>\n
