The young members of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Moldova held a flashmob meeting themed “Start Referendum!” in the Square of the National Opera House on July 9. <\/p>\n

The aim of the event was to sensitize the public opinion to the Communist government’s hostility to the constitutional right of the people to hold a referendum. <\/p>\n

The meeting has lasted for not more than five minutes, time during which about 35 young people improvised Moldova’s map as symbol of “all Moldovan people’s with to initiate a referendum”. The participants were dressed in tee shirts with Moldova’s map on them. The supporters of the referendum imprinted their signatures in the middle of the map. The number of signatures collected until present – 224 176 – and the motto of the flashmob meeting were imprinted on the back side of the tee shirts. <\/p>\n

The meeting participants carried placards with such inscriptions as “We Are Many and We All Want Changes to the Better”, “You Decide in Your Country”, “The People will not Yield up. The Fight will Continue” etc. \"\"<\/p>\n

Vlad Antoni, the president of the municipal organization "Liberal Democratic Youth", has told REPORTER.MD that the event was organized with the aim making those that put their signatures in favor of the referendum more optimistic and of motivating those that have not signed yet. The over 200,000 signatures will not be forgotten. We will fight for a referendum to be held,” Antoni stressed. <\/p>\n
