The Moldovan citizens that obtained visas from a Schengen space or have the right of abode in a European state will not need transit visas for Romania as from July 11, when a relevant agreement takes effect. <\/p>\n

NewsIn cited the Romanian Foreign Minister Lazar Comanescu as saying that at the end of this week, Romania will begin implementing the decision regarding the free movement of the Moldovans that have Schengen visas and the right of abode in a European state within Romania’s territory. <\/p>\n

For his part, the Moldovan Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan said that after July 11, Romania and Moldova will continue making joint efforts to improve the free movement of the Moldovan citizens within the EU. He also said that the Moldovans should benefit from free movement in the same way as the Romanians did before joining the EU. <\/p>\n

His Romanian counterpart Lazar Comanescu pledged that Bucharest will be making effort to facilitate the Moldovans’ access to the EU, but said that such decisions should be made within the EU. <\/p>\n

The Romanian Foreign Minister paid an official visit to Chisinau on July 7, the first after his appointment three months ago.
