Moldovan Government’s resignation was accepted by the Parliament, with the vote of 53 MPs. In line with the legislation in force, at least half of the MPs had to vote for, in order this decision to be accepted. <\/p>\n

President of Juridical Commission for Appointments and Immunities Vladimir Turcanu specified that the Government has the right to resign on its own will, and any member of the Executive has the right to do it as well. "The resignation of the premier leads to the Government’s resignation as a whole, in line with the Constitution." Turcanu said. <\/p>\n

This bill raised discontent for the part of the opposition, who insisted that Vasile Tarlev had to face the MPs and announce the reasons he decided to make this step. <\/p>\n

MP Anatol Taranu, representative of Our Moldovan Alliance requested Tarlev’s presence in the Parliament to explain the reasons of his resignation, and MP Dumitru Diacov explained he abstained from voting because the premier had not come personally to face the MPs. <\/p>\n

Leader of Moldovan Liberal and Democratic Party Vladimir Filat mentioned that he understood by the resignation "the premier’s presence in the Parliament. It was his duty, at least a moral one, to come to the plenary sitting of the Parliament and explain his resignation”. According to Turcanu, the reas <\/p>\n

ons of resignation have already been expressed by the premier and no panic should be made related to this. In such a way the Parliament accepted the resignation of the Executive. <\/p>\n

Premier Vasile Tarlev submitted the resignation within the Wednesday sitting, on March, 19, 2008, in which Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin also participated. Tarlev said he resigned to give the possibility to other people to reach new results. "We have done much but we must offer the opportunity to the younger ones." Tarlev said. <\/p>\n
