If we succeed in settling the Transnistrian conflict by the 2009 Parliamentary elections, the new Legislative will include MPs from Transnistria, so that the Parliament represents the interests of the whole country, President Vladimir Voronin stated within an interview granted to the Russian paper „Kommersant”. <\/p>\n

Voronin affirmed that after the reintegration, Moldova will remain a unitary state, with two autonomous territorial units – Gagauzia and Transnistria. <\/p>\n

„Transnistria will keep its symbol, hymn, official languages. The Moldovan language will obviously remain the state language, on the basis of the Constitution, however the two other languages (Russian and Ukrainian) will further on function on the Transnistrian territory.” Voronin said. <\/p>\n

Being asked if he was willing to have a dialog with the breakaway leader Igor Smirnov, Voronin said that „I am willing to have a dialog with anyone if he is willing to discuss the reunification of the country on the basis of the international norms. My personal ambitions must not stay above the national interests and they never will.
