The Communist Party doesn’t give up the idea of installing Vladimir Voronin’s monument in the centre of Balti town, despite the fact the Supreme Court took a decision twice on this issue, DECA-press Agency informs. <\/p>\n

The communist councillor Boris Hotniciuk, former deputy in the Parliament and the author of sevel initiatives which referred to the installation of Lenin’s monuments in localities from the Northern region, declared that the decision from 2003 which legalized the reinstallation of Lenin’s monument in Balti will not be cancelled. We will do our best to make the decision correspond to juridical norms, the councillor mentioned. <\/p>\n

In this context, the communist deputy Vladimir Vitiuk, former Balti councillor, says that the decision regarding the reinstallation of the monument focused both on the party’s interests and on most of the inhabitants of the town. Noone gave in and nobody gave up this idea, Vladimir Vitiuk said, after being asked if communists intended to cancel the decision from 2003. <\/p>\n

At the same time, the opposition from the Balti Municipal Council believes that the Communist Party has no chance to reinstall Lenin’s monument, given the prohibition from the part of the Supreme Court. <\/p>\n

The Municipal councillor from the part of the Christian-Democratic People’s Party, Igor Ciuru, says that „the idea of reinstalling Lenin’s monument will remain just a dream of some communists which didn’t come true, because from the legal and practical points of view, this is impossible to realize”. „Communists represent the majority in Balti and they cannot give up the idea that this thing could be possible to realize”, Ciuru also said. <\/p>\n

The communist majority from the Balti Municipal Council adopted the decision to reinstall Lenin’s monument in summer 2003, but they were stopped due to some actions of protest of several inhabitants of Balti town. <\/p>\n

Lenin’s statue was removed in Balti, as well as in other localities from the Republic of Moldova, 16 years ago due to a normative act which provided the demolition of all communist monuments and signs.
