The proclamation of Kosovo’s independence will not have an immediate impact on the Transnistrian conflict and will not constitute a precedent for it, however some influences are possible, the political analysts argue. <\/p>\n

Contacted by BASA-press, Head of Programs of the Institute for Public Policies Viorel Cibotaru mentioned that no one can now affirm what consequences the proclamation of Kosovo’s independence will have on the Transnistrian breakaway region. <\/p>\n

"What is certain is that there will be no immediate consequences on the Transnistrian crisis. Nothing can disturb the process of European integration of Moldova. Now, it is important to create a zone of working with the population on the left side of the Dniester River. We have neither moral nor historical right to stop the cooperation between the two sides of the Dniester River.” Cibotaru specified. <\/p>\n

According to the political analyst Gheorghe Cojocaru, the proclamation of Kosovo’s independence risks to change the rules of the game which have been authentic up till now. "Under these circumstances Moldova must trace a logical political way to promote the international interests. The Moldovan officials will have to strictly respect the constitutional principles, especially, to those related to Moldovan sovereignty and integrity.” Cojocaru mentioned. <\/p>\n

The political analyst, Director of Institute of Public Policies Arcadie Barbarosie mentioned that the proclamation of Kosovo’s independence has a negative impact on the process of the Transnistrian conflict settlement, depending on the way Chisinau sees its settlement. "The recognition of Kosovo’s independence, involuntarily, could create an unfavourable precedent on the Transnistrian region, because different political actors are to interpret differently the Transnistrian conflict settlement.” Barbarosie stated for BASA-press. The proclamation of Kosovo’s independence will not have an immediate impact on the Transnistrian conflict and will not constitute a precedent for it, however some influences are possible, the political analysts argue. <\/p>\n
