The governor, Mihail Formuzal, of the Gagauzian autonomy sent letters to international institutions where he asks them to delegate observers for monitoring the elections in the People’s Assembly (AP), the legislative body from Comrat, DECA-press Agency informs.
\nThe governor says in the letter that the Gagauzian autonomy intends to organize fair, open and democratic elections. For us, it is important that the electoral process from Gagauzia be watched by observers from abroad, because this is what the democracy from the region relies on, Mihail Formuzal writes.
\nThe organization of elections for the new members of AP are scheduled for March 16th. The registration of electoral contenders for these elections closes on February 14th.
