Nicolae Andronic, leader of the Republican People’s Party (PPR), affirms that the prosecution put him to trial because of political reasons in order to intimidate him and the party he is the leader of. A statement in this context was made after a new visit at the prosecution.
\nThe leader of PPR says that prosecutor Igor Popa couldn’t present him the document which he is accused to have signed in June 1999 by means of which he permitted to sell 200 tons of wheat from the state reserve.
\n„I was shown a small paper, a kind of a form from the Government, in which it was written that 200 tons of wheat have been loaned for a short term to the firm „Nicovar” from Balti. First, this form is not an order of the Government. Second, there was no signature on it. Third, the stamp on it didn’t belong to the Government, but it belonged to the department for special problems of the Government”, Andronic specified, cited by DECA-press Agency.
\nHe said he cannot give any explanation on the accusations at his address, since the prosecutor cannot present him at least the document which says that Andronic had signed long time ago.
