Moldova lost in premiere at ECHR a case for the copyright violation. This is the case of the artist Pavel Balan, whose picture „Cetatea Sorocii” (Fortress of Soroca) is used by the Ministry of Informational Developemtn on the IDs issued to citizens of Moldova without his approval.
\nBefore that, the artist addressed with a similar complaint at the law courts from Moldova and won the trial. The Ministry paid him the damage for he non-authorized usage of the picture. Yet, after that, the Ministry continued using the picture, without consulting Pavel Balan and without his approval. The artist has put it to trial again, but this time, he lost the trial and had to go to ECHR.
