The Russian Federation intends to open polling stations in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova for the presidential elections from March 2008 too – officials from Moscow announced, DECA-press Agency transmits.
\nAccording to them, a total of 25 polling stations will be opened on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, 24 of which will be on the left bank of the Nistru river. The 25th polling station will be opened in Chisinau, most probably at the embassy of the Russian Federation.
\nRussian has done the same thing at the elections in the State Duma, held in December 2007. That time, 24 polling stations were opened in the Transnistrian region, even if the officials from Chisinau had asked Moscow to keep back from doing tis step. After that, Moldovan officials didn’t send any note of protest to Russia on this issue.
\nPolitical analysts believe that, this time, Chisinau will also recommend Moscow to keep back from opening polling stations on the left bank of the Nistru river, but, it these ones will be opened, they will not protest.
