The mayor of Balti town, Vasile Panciuk, doesn’t see any reason because of which the mayor of the locality resigns from his post.
\nA statement in this context was made by the mayor of Balti, at the request of DECA-press Agency, at the press conference, held on Monday. At the meeting with journalists, the head of the town gave a reply to a petition of small entrepreneurs from Balti, who protested in the centre of the locality, between January 22nd – 27th.
\nWe remind you that, on Sunday, at the meeting of protest of small entrepreneurs from Balti, protestors required the initiation of the procedure of dismissal of the mayor of Balti and dissolvation of the current membership of the Municipal Council of Balti, dominated by the communist majority.
\nThe mayor of Balti asserts that, at the elections, the voters expressed their trust towards the current power. What has happened in the town that the head of Balti town must resign, the mayor wondered. Problems are not solved at a meeting, because you cannot explain anything to anyone withing a meeting. Revolutions are organized within a meeting, and problems are solved at the table of negotiations, the mayor said. At the same time, Vasili Panciuk, warned that any actions not permitted by the authorities will be stopped, according to the Moldovan legislation.
\nThe protests of small entrepreneurs started at the beginning of the last year. They ask for the institution of a moratorium on the Law of brevets, stop the growth of tariffs for communal service, the limitation of activity of electronic casinos from the locality.
\nThe municipal councillor Serghei Banari, one of the organizers of the action of protest, declared for DECA-press that, in case the local administration and the police will continue pressing the small entrepreneurs, the latter ones will ask for the resignation of the mayor and the dissolvation of the Municipal Council of Balti. At the sitting of the municipal forum from January 31st, I will make a political statement in which I will ask for the dismissal of the authorities of Balti town and organization of anticipated elections, Banari declared.
\nAt the local elections from June 3rd, PCRM obtained 47,58% of the votest, and the current mayor Vasili Panciuk, supported by communists, gathered 65,7% votes, and won the first round of elections.
\nThe Municipal Council of Balti is formed of 35 councillors and it has a communist majority of 21 councillors. Other eight parties have per one-two councillors in the Council.
