The draft of a legislative initiative which stipulates the prohibition of electoral blocks to be put forward for examination in the first reading on December 27, 2008. <\/p>\n

The draft, which has been put forward by the communist MPs, stipulates also that people who have double citizenship; the ones with criminal records should be unable to candidate for local and central offices. <\/p>\n

Contacted by BASA-press, Head of Juridical Commission for "Appointments and Immunities" Vladimir Turcanu said that excluding the notion of "electoral alliance" from the Moldovan Electoral Code will allow the competent bodies to detect and remove the shortcomings which exist in the electoral legislation and to adjust it to the European standards. <\/p>\n

According to Vladimir Turcanu the draft also stipulates that the people who have double citizenship, those with criminal records and those who are deprived of the right to hold leading offices in line with the court sentence would not be allowed to candidate for local or central offices. <\/p>\n

"This draft is effective enough in detecting the shortcomings which occur in the pre-electoral period and does not contravene with the European standards." Vladimir Turcanu stated for BASA-press. <\/p>\n
