It is absolutely necessary to ensure full freedom of the movement of people, commodities and services in the Transnistria Security Zone and across the Transnistrian region as a whole. This position of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s was reiterated by the Head of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Delegation to Moldova, French Senator Josselin de Rohan in the course of his meeting with Chairman of the Transnistrian supreme soviet [parliament] Yevgeny Shevchuk here on Tuesday. <\/p>\n

The OSCE parliamentarian emphasized that all the problems existing between Moldova and Transnistria have to be solved exclusively on the basis of compromises. <\/p>\n

Shevchuk said the Transnistrian republic also stands for settling problems at a negotiating table, "but a partnership dialog presupposes mutual respect of the sides, doesn’t it?" <\/p>\n

He expressed concern about the Moldovan Communist authorities’ practice that has become particularly apparent lately – taking unilateral measures, ignoring of bilateral accords, and trying to sharpen the situation by restricting the Transnistrians’ freedom of movement, as can be seen from the recent decision of Chisinau’s to ban motor vehicles bearing Transnistrian license plates. <\/p>\n

Yevgeny Shevchuk presumes that the profits, which the Moldovan authorities are trying to earn at the Transnistrian citizens’ expense (Chisinau is demanding that all Transnistrian vehicles get re-registered with Moldova and change their plates for Moldovan ones), are not worth the efforts being taken by the international guarantors and observers to resume the Chisinau-Tiraspol negotiations. \/\/ Infotag<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
