Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin offers a set of measures to settle the Transnistrian conflict. The statements were made by the president within an interview for the "Komsomoliskaia pravda v Moldove" newspaper. <\/p>\n

Vladimir Voronin suggests that the peace-keeping forces in the region and the guards’ checkpoints on the Moldovan-Transnistrian border be reduced to the maximum. At the same time, the president considers that the reestablishment of the international Leuseni-Chisinau-Dubasari route to Ukraine and its transformation into a modern European corridor would mean one more step towards the settlement of this problem. <\/p>\n

According to the head of state, the opening of the bridge over Dniester in Gura-Bacului locality would allow an integral exploitation of the Chisinau-Tiraspol-Odesa route, as well as the re-establishment of the common railway on the both sides of Dniester. <\/p>\n

Voronin suggests that a common television post should be created which would not be under control of either the Chisinau officials or the ones in Tiraspol, but it should be monitored by the civil society. Another step towards the settlement of the conflict would be the accreditation of the University in the breakaway region at the Moldovan Ministry of Education, what would allow that the diplomas issued by this institution be recognized all over the world. <\/p>\n

The president stated that the situation on the regulation of the Transnistrian crisis has stabilized this year. "Transnistria’s status has not been settled yet, but the atmosphere is different now. Russia has openly declared for several times this year about the possibility of solving the Transnistrian conflict only on the basis of the principle of territorial integrity." Voronin stated. <\/p>\n
