The OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain Miguel Angel Moratinos will visit Chisinau next October, the diplomat told the Moldovan Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Stratan. The two officials are taking part in the international conference on the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) continuing in Brussels. <\/p>\n

The visit’s main objective will be the Transnistrian settlement question. Negotiations between Chisinau and Tiraspol froze in early 2006, and despite the conflicting sides’ repeated statements about their readiness to return to the 5+2 format negotiating table, this has not happened until now. <\/p>\n

Mr. Moratinos underscored, the settling of frozen conflicts is one of the OSCE’s priority goals. This topic will be key during his visit to Tbilissi (Georgia) upon completion of the Brussels conference. <\/p>\n

The State Secretary for European Affairs of the French Foreign Ministry, Jean-Pierre Jouyet, said at his meeting with Andrei Stratan that the current French presidency of the European Union is attaching a particular importance to ENP deepening and broadening.
