The National League of the Association of Mayors considers that the new laws on local public governance, approved by Moldovan Parliament at the end of 2006, have not changed the situation. <\/p>\n

The open letter, sent to Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu says, despite the fact that about nine months passed since that time, the Government took no measures on limiting the administrative influence on the local authorities’ terms of reference. <\/p>\n

"As a result, the local public authorities’ juridical situation is fuzzy that does not allow them to solve their tasks. On the one hand, there are two new laws, corresponding to the European standards, on the other hand, the local finance system and the earlier approved normative acts confront with these laws", the letter says. <\/p>\n

The league comes out for a constructive dialogue with the central authorities in solving problems, local administrations face. <\/p>\n

"We are interested and are ready to take an active and constructive part together with other state institution and the civil society in the process of modernizing the legislative base and practice, connected with the functioning of local public governance, bringing them in line with European standards", the League’s open letter underlines. \/\/ Infotag<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
