Moldova’s Reintegration Ministry has issued to MOLDPRES for distribution an information note with the following content: <\/p>\n

"In the context of the efforts made to consolidate the confidence, and support the population from the Transnistrian region, promote Moldova’s image and national interests, as well as to reintegrate the country, the Moldovan authorities have ruled to simplify the procedure on granting papers from the national system of passports, and adopted the Government’s Decision No 959 from 09.09.2005, On Measures to Ensure Confirmation of Citizenship and Documentation of Population from Settlements on Left Bank of Dniestre River (Transnistria). <\/p>\n

About 42,000 citizens from the region appealed to receive papers from the national system of passports, after the above Decision’s adoption on 10.09.2005 till 31.12.2005 (the initial date of this action’s expiration). Taking into account the increased interest in getting the Moldovan citizenship, decisions have been repeatedly taken on extending the action of the concerned decision. <\/p>\n

Thus, about 70,000 people with residence in the Transnistrian region sent applications to the sections of population’s record and documentation till 30.06.2007. Hence, the number of Moldova’s citizens from the Transnistrian region, as well as of children up to 16 years, put down in their papers, is 400,000 people already. <\/p>\n

Taking into consideration the fact that the number of people who appeal to process papers and confirm the citizenship continues to maintain at a constant level, as well as in order to continue positive steps undertaken by Moldovan authorities to strengthen the confidence and support the population from the Transnistrian region, which favours the country’s social and economic reintegration, the government ruled to extend the deadline of keeping in force the Government’s Decision No 959 from 09.09.2005, On Measures to Ensure Confirmation of Citizenship and Documentation of Population from Settlements on Left Bank of Dniestre River (Transnistria), by another half a year – till 31.12.2007. \/\/ Moldpres<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
