EU Special Representative in Chisinau, Kalman Mizsei, and American diplomats will arrive in Moldova on Wednesday to discuss with President Vladimir Voronin about the so-called plan on Transnistrian settling recently revealed by analyst Vlad Socor, but not coordinated by local authorities. <\/p>\n

The announcement was placed on EUObserver, which makes references to EU diplomatic sources. At the same time, asked to confirm this information, the President Office press service stated that the agenda of the head of state includes for tomorrow only a meeting with Kalman Mizsei. The issues to be discussed are not made public for the moment. <\/p>\n

According to sources quoted by the EUObserver, the information regarding the contents of the plan is true, but Kalman Mizsei could not obtain confirmation during his visit to Moscow. The publication also notes that the EU diplomacy is worried and tries to identify whether the Republic of Moldova has cut a secret deal with Russia on the Transnistrian issue. <\/p>\n

The deal, reported by analyst Vlad Socor, foresees the reunification of Moldova and Transnistria by holding general elections and then give 20 perdent of parliamentary seats to the Tiraspol clan, as well as the post of deputy minister in every Moldovan ministry, including the first deputy prime minister job. According to the EUObserver contacts, the draft reunification package also envisages Russia keepign its 1,300 peacekeepers in Transnistria for an indefinite period of time. <\/p>\n

The package has been negotiated bilaterally between Chisinau and Moscow over the past six months, leaving the EU and US in the dark. EU officials told for EUObserver that they had not been consulted and that they are skeptical if such a strongly pro-Russian deal actually exists.
