Deputy Premier, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Stratan today had a meeting with a delegation of the Foreign and Cooperation Ministry of Spain, which is currently holding the OSCE chairmanship-in-office. The delegation is paying a two-day fact collecting visit to Moldova, according to the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s press service. <\/p>\n

The sides exchanged opinions about Moldova’s cooperation with the OSCE, particularly, through the light of efforts to settle completely the Transnistrian conflict. The head of the Moldovan diplomacy informed the Spanish officials about the current situation in the settlement process, underlining the need to renew as soon as possible the 5+2 negotiations. The sides highly appreciated the activity carried out by the OSCE Mission in Moldova. <\/p>\n

Head of the Spanish delegation, Ambassador Jose Maria Pons Irazabal expressed the Spanish chairmanship’s support for the Moldovan authorities’ efforts to find a solution to the conflict. He stressed that in its approach to the Transnistrian conflict settlement, the Spanish OSCE Chairmanship follows the principles of observing Moldova’s territorial integrity and strengthening regional security. <\/p>\n

Stratan highlighted the Moldovan authorities’ willingness to receive, in the nearest future, the Spanish foreign and cooperation minister, in his capacity of OSCE chairman-in-office. <\/p>\n

The Moldovan diplomat informed the Spanish delegation about the stage of implementing the Moldova-EU Action Plan, laying the emphasis on the need for the dialogue between Moldova and the EU to shift to the level of reinforcing the contractual relations.
