The all-republican local elections will take place on June 3. The MPs of various parliamentary factions have worked jointly a draft resolution on this issue and committed it to the parliamentary permanent bureau. They will be able to approve this resolution on a plenary parliamentary sitting by the end of this week. <\/p>\n

As Infotag has already reported, the powers of the incumbent local authorities will expire on May 25. If the Parliament approves the proposed draft resolution, the pre-election campaign will be officially started on April. In accordance with the Electoral Code it will last 60 days. <\/p>\n

According to preliminary estimate by the Central Election Commission, about 16 million lei ($1.3 million) will be needed for organizing and conducting the election campaign. 12 million lei were spent for the last elections. The Central Election Commission experts explain this difference by the fact that a more considerable number of ballots are necessary for the local elections. <\/p>\n

When voters come to polling stations, no "Votat" stamps will be put in their identity cards, but respective remarks will be made in the electronic register and the CEC be automatically informed that this or that citizen voted. <\/p>\n
