The general situation in Moldova has "considerably improved" last 2 years, maintains Deputy Chairman of the Moldovan Parliament, Christian Democratic Popular Party leader Iurie Rosca. <\/p>\n

Speaking live on the ProTV-Chisinau channel Monday night, he stressed the improvement had been thanks to the political partnership of April 4, 2005. [On that day, his radical right-wing CDPP entered into an ‘informal’ coalition with its recent mortal political enemy – the extreme left Moldovan Communist Party of Vladimir Voronin, and voted for re-electing Voronin as President of Moldova for a second term of office.] <\/p>\n

Rosca believes such a partnership was absolutely necessary for the country’s interests: "Moldova was in need of political stability, of economic reforms, and of continuing the European integration course. We took all that into a due account". <\/p>\n

The CDPP leader said that one should judge about the partnership efficiency only upon the expiry of the Parliament’s mandate, when Moldova will have fulfilled the EU-Moldova European Neighborhood Policy Action Plan and its commitments to the Council of Europe, and excluded from the CE monitoring. <\/p>\n

Iurie Rosca also said that his party had put Vladimir Voronin 10 conditions for his re-election. By now, the President has already fulfilled 9 conditions, and the only one left is to determine a concrete place for the Prosecutor Office [prokuratura]. The CDPP believes the prokuratura should become subordinate to the Ministry of Justice. <\/p>\n

"The efficiency of our partnership [with the Communists] is proved by the recent decision by foreign donors to supply US$1.2 billion for Moldova. Had there been no stability or reforms in this republic, the donors would hardly give such huge money to us.
