Veaceslav Iordan, new general interim mayor of the capital, presented Monday to the City Hall employees a new list of tasks. <\/p>\n

The mayor decided to start his activity in the new position with a series of restrictions for the City Hall employees. "All employees shall stay in their offices and deal with specific tasks rather than walk on the City Hall corridors as if in the street", stated Iordan. <\/p>\n

The interim mayor of the capital announced that one of the key issues he will focus from the very beginning of his activity is the "fight against unauthorized constructions". "This is a very complex matter and I don’t understand why it has not been solved by now. Lands are given for constructions in the middle of resting parks or playing grounds for children", mentioned Iordan. He asked the Urban Administration Directorate to present a demarche to Chisinau Municipal Council asking for stopping unauthorized constructions and provision of lands in the capital. <\/p>\n

According to Veleriu Bodean, Head of Urban Administration Directorate, more than 370 buildings were built in the capital only over 2006, of which more than 100 were build in the center of the capital. <\/p>\n

The interim mayor was also concerned about cleaning the residential areas. He asked the Department of Green Spaces, Transport, and Communications and the Department of Communal Dwelling to develop within a month a plan on cleaning the municipality. <\/p>\n

Veaceslav Iordan became general interim mayor of the capital on 25 January 2007, on former mayor Vasile Ursu’s proposal, who was promoted to Minister of Transport last week. In 2003, Veaceslav Iordan was elected as municipal councilor on behalf of the Communist Party.
