International mediators to and observers of the Transnistrian conflict settlement will meet in the capital of Spain before the end of this week, Adriaan Jacobovits de Szeged, the European Union’s Special Representative for Moldova, told journalists. <\/p>\n

He said the Madrid meeting will be held in the absence of the conflicting sides’ representatives. The mediators will discuss with the new OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Miguel Anhel Moratinos, the perspectives of resuming the negotiation process. <\/p>\n

Adriaan Jacobovits de Szeged presumes that now that the transport communication and passenger train circulation via Transnistria have been restored, there seems to exist no obstacle to returning to the chief point – negotiations on a status for Transnistria. <\/p>\n

The diplomat said the continuing pause in the negotiations is no good, and voiced pity that the Transnistrian side puts forward various conditions for resuming the talks. <\/p>\n
