The additional peacekeeping post, installed near Cocieri in Transnistria last weekend, will remain for one week more. The Joint Control Commission (JCC) took such decision on Thursday. <\/p>\n

As Infotag has already reported, last weekend there was a confrontation between the Moldovan Police and the Transnistrian militia in Transnistria. Only the peacekeepers’ quick interference allowed avoiding a clash between the law and order representatives of both sides. On Saturday, the JCC decided to install a provisional joint peacekeeping post on the crossing of the track going to Cocieri and the Dubasari-Rybnitsa highway. The post was to act there until January 18. <\/p>\n

At the JCC sitting on Thursday the Transnistrian delegation proposed to prolong the term of the post activity for a week more until the next JCC sitting. <\/p>\n

JCC Co-Chairman on the part of Transnistria Aleksandr Porojan said that after the incident non-confidence between the Transnistrian militia and the Moldovan police increased, that is why, it would be advisable to leave this post there for a week more. <\/p>\n

JCC Co-Chairman on the part of Moldova Ion Solonenco supported this proposal. He estimated positively the results of the sitting and underlined that the sides did not dwell on trifles, but were moving forward. <\/p>\n

"The main achievement of the sitting is the constructive discussion and consensus, they succeeded to arrive at", Head of the Russian delegation to the JCC Victor Shanin said. <\/p>\n

At the sitting the sides approved the new Commander of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces in the person of Colonel of the Russian Armed Forces Vitaly Andreev. Former Commander Aleksandr Vitkovsky was released from this post in the connection with the expiration of his mission term. <\/p>\n

Vitaly Andreev graduated from the Poltava anti-aircraft missile school in 1985 and served in Angola, in the Odessa and Moscow military districts.
