Moldovan delegation to the Joint Control Committee (JCC) is worried about the way and terms of invalidating by Transnistrian militia of several munitions of unknown origin, found lately in the Security Zone. <\/p>\n

Ion Leahu, JCC member, stated for BASA-press that a part of the armament found in the Security Zone the recent months have been liquidated by the Transnistrian side without announcing whose order was it to do so. Due to this reason, at the end of the Thursday JCC meeting, the five reports presented by the Joint Military Commandment were not signed, Leahu specified. <\/p>\n

Chisinau asked for Tiraspol representatives to present information about the signatory of the invalidation order at the next meeting. Ion Leahu stressed that "first, the provenience of munitions had to be established, and only then approve the liquidation order". <\/p>\n

According to him, another item discussed in the Thursday JCC meeting referred to the activity of the peacemakers in the zone. Military men’s report pointed out cases when the cars belonging to peacemakers were stopped by Transnistrian militia men and their IDs were checked, Leahu communicated. In JCC member’s opinion, "such a behavior denotes that it is actually the separatists who control the Security Zone rather than the observers and peacemakers, as provided in the existent agreements". <\/p>\n

At the close of year 2006, Transnistrian militia found several bags with armament and munitions in the Security Zone. Moldovan delegation to JCC insisted on carrying out expert examinations in order to determine their origin. At the same time, the delegations of the Russian Federation and Transnistria opposed to taking a decision that will allow mixed peacekeeping forces to perform such an investigation. <\/p>\n
