Russia and Ukraine will adopt a common position towards the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict as international mediators to solve the Transnistrian crisis. The statement belongs to Ukrainian Premier Viktor Yanukovich, and was made at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, where he was paying a working visit, following a visit to Moscow a day before. <\/p>\n

Yanukovich stated that the Republic of Moldova must stay united and indivisible, whereas Transnistria should become its integral part. He mentioned that the decision to address, in this context, the Transnistrian issue together with Russia was taken within the consultations he had last Friday with the Russian President Vladimir Putin. <\/p>\n

The Ukrainian premier announced of his intention to find a solution for this problem as soon as possible, and that Ukraine closely cooperates with the EU and OSCE in this regard. <\/p>\n

Yanukovich’s visit to Moscow and then to Washington follows the last-week’s resignation of the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Boris Tarasyuk. In this context, the US Ukrainian community representatives declared a boycott to premier’s visit.
