The United Gagauzia movement has called upon the Moldovan leadership for refusing to participate in the NATO exercises in Georgia, which will take place from 6 May to 1 June in Georgia.<\/p>\n

A statement by this movement recalls that in accordance with Article 11 of the Constitution, the Republic of Moldova is a neutral state.‘That is why, we must not participate in the NATO exercises in Georgia, where its administration’s bellicose intentions are clear and which are dangerous for the entire civilized world’, the movement considers.<\/p>\n

The statement recalls that Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev designated the NATO’s decision to carry out the military exercise in Georgia as ‘short-signed and non-partnership’. Kazakhstan, Estonia and Latvia have already announced their refusal to participate in the exercises. ‘We request the Moldovan leadership to listen to the Russian President’s appeals. Moldova’s participation will inflict only damage on the Moldovan people, as it will ruin again, in the first place the reviving economic relations with the Russian Federation. The participation in the planned action of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization will not give us any advantages and values, for the sake of which Moldova could sacrifice the resumed friendly relations with the Russian Federation’ the statement says.<\/p>\n

About 1300 militaries from 19 countries are expected to participate in the exercises.<\/p>\n
