Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin has met Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Sauli Niinisto, the presidential press service has said. <\/p>\n

President Voronin welcomed the signing of the agreement on collaboration between the EIB and the Moldovan government, and highlighted the importance of launching the activity of this prestigious bank in our country. The EIB’s presence in Moldova gives the possibility of carrying out important investment projects and will become a positive signal for foreign investors, the head of state said. <\/p>\n

For his part, Sauli Niinisto expressed the EIB’s willingness to start jointly with the Moldovan authorities consultations to identify concrete cooperation projects. The European official also said that the EIB gives priority to financing of infrastructure projects. <\/p>\n

Voronin emphasised that the infrastructure problems are among the most stringent for Moldova and the cooperation between the Moldovan authorities and the European Investment Bank will allow solving them in a shorter time.
