A civil servant must ensure an active, correct and timely informing of citizens on matters presenting public interest, must provide for a free access to information and observe law-stipulated timing of information provision, reads the draft Code of Conduct approved by the Government of Moldova. This bill is one in a package of documents which are to be adopted in Moldova as per the Concept of the Central Public Administration Reform. <\/p>\n

The draft Code also compels state officials to rationally use public means, state property, and work time, to strictly observe laws, be impartial, professional and loyal. <\/p>\n

Civil servants shall be prohibited to demand and\/or accept gifts for the services they provide, except little symbolic souvenirs. If somebody tries to present a gift, the state official must immediately inform his boss(es) about such person. <\/p>\n

A state official may not participate in a commission if his or her relatives are members of the commission. Any conflict of interests has to be settled prior to appointing the person concerned to the position. <\/p>\n
