Russian President Vladimir Putin privileged Friday the "territorial integrity" principle in Europe, seeming to support Moldova in the conflict with the separatist region of Transnistria, which has recently voted in favour of joining to the Russian Federation, Mediafax news agency has cited AFP. <\/p>\n

Asked in Paris where he arrived on Friday what he thinks about the referendum in the Reansnistrian region, where more than 90 percent have voted for the joining to the Russian Federation, Putin said that "what is the most important – the territorial integrity principle or political relations – should be established." "Our stance wants to be devoted to respect for the international law, while the respect for territorial integrity is one of its principles," the Russian president said shortly before being received by his French counterpart Jacques Chirac at the Elysee Palace. <\/p>\n
