Romania would like Moldova to follow it on the European integration way as soon as possible, Romanian Senate Speaker Nicolae Vacaroiu said after his today’s meeting with Moldovan Speaker Marian Lupun in Chisinau. <\/p>\n

Vacaroiu told journalists that the main goal of his official visit to Chisinau is to revitalize the interparliamentary relations between the two states and to give them a new qualitative leap. The interparliamentary relations did not meet the expectations, and now they have to be relaunched more dynamically "for our citizens’ good", Vacaroiu said. <\/p>\n

The senate’s speaker stressed that his visit to Chisinau fits into the context of Romania joining the European Union (EU). "We are willing to share our experience with Moldova. We would like Moldova to follow us as soon as possible. You will have to find a gate to enter the EU", Nicolae Vacaroiu concluded. <\/p>\n

Marian Lupu told journalists that the Chisinau talks have been sincere and extremely fruitful. "The dialogue was very effective. We discussed subjects of paramount importance related to the development of our interparliamentary relations in the context of Romania’s accession to the EU", Lupu said. <\/p>\n

The Moldovan and Romanian parliamentary delegations agreed to restore the activity of the Moldovan-Romanian interparliamentary special collaboration commission, created in 1992. The officials considered the compliance of the Memorandum of collaboration with the existing realities, and approached the friendship and collaboration agreement between the two states. The delegations also discussed the visa regime for Moldovan citizens wishing to go to the EU, the situation in the Transnistrian region, and other subjects of common interest. <\/p>\n
