General Assembly will discuss the problem of frozen conflicts. GUAM member states have managed to include this issue in the agenda of the 61st session of the General Assembly after it has recently failed to do this. <\/p>\n<p>According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, resident representatives of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine has proposed the inclusion of the issue of long-term conflicts in the GUAM area and involvement of member states for international peace, security and development. This initiative was turned down more than once under the pressure of the Russian Federation and its allies, which &quot;were trying to prevent the objective information of the international community regarding the long-term conflicts harmful for Russia&rsquo;s image in front of the U.N.&quot; <\/p>\n<p>This issue was voted at a plenary sitting of the U.N. General Assembly at the insistence of GUAM ambassadors in New York. The resident representative of Moldova to the U.N., Alexei Tulbure, had to intervene more than once and give arguments. The General Assembly decided to include this issue in the agenda for debates after more than three hours of talks. <img decoding=\"async\" height=\"136\" hspace=\"3\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.moldova.org\/politicom\/2006\/sep\/flag_ONU.jpg\" width=\"160\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, &quot;Moldova has managed to include a point of vital interest for destinies of the country in the agenda of the U.N. General Assembly for the first time in history of its diplomacy. This decision creates a favourable framework for raising more actively the awareness of the international public opinion over conflicts in GUAM and opens new perspectives for their definitive settlement. The inclusion of this point in the agenda of the U.N.
