Petru Lucinschi placed great hopes in the Kiev meeting with Ukraine’s President Leonid Kuchma, Russia’s Premier Eugeny Primakov and Transnistrian administration head Igor Smirnov, which meeting had been slated for April 30. As INTERLIC New agency reports, Moldova’s head Press Secretary Anatol Golea said it at a briefing. <\/p>\n

He reminded that the summit did not take place in virtue of the fact that Primakov put off his visit to Ukraine due to his sickness and a hard situation in Russia. Chisinau was preparing seriously for this meeting in the hope that this meeting would be an important step towards the full-scaled settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. <\/p>\n

The Press Secretary designated Tiraspol’s statements that the summit had not allegedly duly prepared and that it did not take place due to the resignation of Vice-chairman of the Russian government, Vadim Gustov as inconsistent.
