“Romania has given the Republic of Moldova the chance to join together the European Union but the decision belongs to the Moldovan authorities and Moldovan people,“ said Romanian President Traian Basescu. <\/p>\n

According to the BBC radio station, Basescu made this statement last weekend in Bucharest during a dinner given for the winners of the History Olympiad of Moldova. <\/p>\n

Basescu said that after Germany’s reintegration, Romania is the only state divided into two but the unification will take place within the EU in a not-too-distant future. He added that Romania recognizes Moldovan authorities’ wish to be an independent state that builds its path to the Euro-Atlantic future. <\/p>\n

“Romania has given the Republic of Moldova the chance to join together the European Union but the decision belongs to the Moldovan authorities and Moldovan people,“ said Romanian President Traian Basescu. <\/p>\n
