The North-Atlantic Alliance is contented with the implementation of the Individual Partnership Action Plan Moldova-NATO, and will further support its carrying out. NATO Deputy Secretary-General Alessandro Minuto Rizzo has made a statement to this effect at a meeting with Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin, MOLDPRES correspondent reports from Brussels. <\/p>\n

The president informed the NATO official about the advancements in the plan’s implementation, through which Moldova proceeded to reform the security sector, as well as other fields related to Moldova s commitments to the Euro-Atlantic values. Voronin recalled that the authorities appointed a national coordinator and set up eight task forces responsible for an efficient implementation of the Individual Partnership Action Plan Moldova-NATO. <\/p>\n

Voronin described the document as a step forward in the cooperation with the alliance, helping improve the national framework in the field, and adjust it to the European rigours. The head of state said the plan is streamlined towards the National Army’s transparency both for the national and international community, and the civil society. The president stressed that the Individual Partnership Action Plan offers the possibility to reduce the risk, and to prevent threats to security in the region. <\/p>\n

Voronin reiterated that, according to the constitution, Moldova is a neutral state, and that it will not change its position on accession to NATO. <\/p>\n
