\"\"Romanian Foreign Minister Mihai Ungureanu said in Sofia on Friday that Romania has proposed free visas for Moldova at the latest round of negotiations on the travel regime problem with Moldova, according to Mediafax. <\/p>\n

The Romanian side suggested at an April 26-27 meeting in Bucharest that the visa regime be as simple as possible and provoke as little as possible difficulties to Moldovan citizens. <\/p>\n

The proposals call for free visas, introduction of a one-year or five-year visa for categories of Moldovans with low risk of immigration to Romania and notably businessmen, students and academia in general. <\/p>\n

The Foreign Ministry intends to modernise the consular section of the Romanian Embassy to Moldova in order to regularise the travel regime. <\/p>\n

On the other hand, Romania promises to open another two general consulates in Moldova, probably in Balti and Cahul, the minister noted. <\/p>\n

He underlined that Romania’s proposals aim to allow Moldovan citizens to really benefit of Romania’s entry in the European Union. <\/p>\n

The introduction of visas for Moldovan citizens is a mandatory measure in the perspective of Romania’s integration in E.U., but it shall also take into account the common interests of the two countries. <\/p>\n

Also, the minister spoke out about negotiations at level of experts that took place in Chisinau on April 13-14 concerning the border treaty between Moldova and Romania.
