\nOn April 26, the Moldovan government adopted a decision under which Moldova will withdraw from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) economic court (Infotag and Basa-press news agencies, April 27). It proposes that through a law Moldova will denounce the July 6, 1992 agreement on the Economic Tribunal of the CIS. <\/p>\n

On March 3, 2004, eight member-states of the agreement decided to turn the CIS Economic Tribunal into the Economic Court of the Eurasian Economic Community (EvrAzAS). Moldova has recently recalled its two judges from this structure. <\/p>\n

The Chisinau executive argues that its decision was taken based on the reason that the court does not do its main job — solving economic disputes among CIS members, instead, it interprets acts adopted within the CIS. The CIS Economic Tribunal had examined 65 cases in more than 10 years of activity, of which three on Moldova, without any effective result. The court decisions are non-binding. <\/p>\n

The Moldovan government considers court’s activity as “inefficient” and “useless” for Moldova. The Moldovan Supreme Court of Justice has supported this decision of the government. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
